Volunteer Profile — Pat Moyle

By Beth Stitely | Posted: Wednesday March 11, 2015

Pat Moyle has been with Anglican Family Care since 2010. She came on board at the suggestion of a friend and has been a regular and faithful volunteer ever since.

Those who work with Pat find her to be extremely helpful. Pat initially started in the Food Bank and then added the Born-to-Learn Resource Room to her schedule. She now works in both areas and finds this allows her to see the various aspects of how Anglican Family Care impacts the community.

“I usually come in for about 2 to 3 hours at a time” she says, “I enjoy what I’m doing. I like the people I work with. I like making new friends.”

Volunteering is an opportunity for Pat to get out into the community and be part of something bigger. “I want to give back to our community” she says, “I feel like I’m making a difference. I volunteer because I enjoy it”. In the Food Bank, she breaks down large quantities of food into smaller more manageable portions and in the Born-To-Learn Resource Room she is known for her talent of making the best playdough. “The secret is in the kneading” she says with a smile.

Besides helping those in need, Pat especially enjoys the friendships she’s made with the staff. “I love the girls here. They make me feel so young and it’s like I’m another mother to them.”

Pat has no plans to retire from volunteering anytime soon. “As long as I’m happy doing my work I’ll keep going,” she says “I have found that age is not a factor. You’ve got to like what you’re doing and I think there’s something special about volunteer work”
