I have worked for AFC for over 7 years, based in the Oamaru office. I trained as a Registered General and Obstetric Nurse in the UK, then specialized in Oncology before emigrating to NZ in 1990. I then worked for Plunket, initially as a Community Support Co-ordinator before becoming a Parents As First Teacher Educator (PAFT).
As a nurse, and then a Paft Educator, I became increasingly aware of the barriers and prejudice so many whānau face and wanted to be part of the social change, to ensure the needs of tamariki are paramount, so they can thrive
It is a privilege to work alongside whānau and to be part of their journey in developing strength and resilience, putting their tamariki at the forefront of their decision making, and seeing their sense of pride grow
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my own family, either on the sideline of their sporting activities or enjoying the walks, beaches, and lifestyle that North Otago has to offer with them.
