An update from our General Manager, Mike Williams

By Anglican Family Care | Posted: Friday April 3, 2020

Since my last message a week ago, I would like to take this opportunity to update you on the work we are all doing at Anglican Family Care in keeping connected to our clients, whānau and communities. Our mission and purpose hasn’t changed - it is actually now more than ever extremely essential.

  • We continue to provide support over all areas of service and are operating within the Alert 4 restrictions - working strictly without direct personal contact
  • Anglican Family Care has now been listed as an essential service on the Ministry of Social Development website, but only on the basis that we are contracted by Oranga Tamariki to provide a family violence response in the Clutha area
  • Our staff are maintaining regular contact with clients and whānau, supporting people and building their resilience through frequent phone calls, emails and video calling
  • We remain involved in community networking meetings and continue to monitor official websites for updates, so we can help our families navigate support systems
  • We are continuing to update our Facebook page with resources and tips to help families get through this period. If you’re not already following us you can find us here facebook.com/anglicanfamilycare
  • Program based work, such as Circle of Security, is being trialled remotely. An example of innovation beginning to emerge through need.

Apart from face to face engagement, our connection channels remain the same and you can still make contact with us via phone and email during our regular office hours 8.30am to 4.30pm (See our website for our contact details). We are still accepting referrals and will assess and prioritise these based on the immediacy of need and our capacity to provide support at the time.

It is testament to the significant preparatory work of our Pandemic Response Team that we are able to continue to operate despite the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 and I would like to thank our staff for their ongoing professionalism and care - qualities that our communities have come to expect from Anglican Family Care.

Stay safe, stay home and stay well.

Ngā mihi nui
Mike
