As 2020 draws to a close, plans have been finalised for our upcoming 50th anniversary to celebrate the inauguration of Anglican Family Care (AFC) in 1971. Inside this Spring/Summer edition of Community Connect, you will find more details about upcoming events planned for 2021.

We start with a House and Garden Tour fundraiser on Sunday 14 February. This social event is a wonderful and affordable way to celebrate Valentine's day, and gather your friends for a tour of often admired houses and gardens on the Taieri Plains near Dunedin. It has been, without a doubt, a difficult year for everyone, and we’re very pleased to have the support of these homeowners to open their homes and gardens for us to enjoy - all in the spirit of philanthropy.  You can purchase your tickets from our website: anglicanfamilycare.org.nz/supporters/house-and-garden-tour/

At our recent AGM outgoing Board of Trustees Chairperson Jim Hawker farewelled long-standing Board Member Hilary Allison. Jim acknowledged Hilary’s remarkable contribution, joining the Board in 2000, serving twenty years as a trustee with twelve years as the Board Chair. Read Hilary's inspiring story inside.

We talk with two rural mums who explain how the support and guidance of their Family Start

Whānau Worker(s) helped them to conquer challenges and meet their parenting goals; even when their situations seemed insurmountable at times.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our supporters, it is you that make what we do possible. We really appreciate your support and thoughtfulness – thank you.

I wish you, your friends and family a very happy Christmas and holiday season.

Ngā mihi

Mike Williams

General Manager
