Working Together For Positive Change

We are proud to help combat family violence in Dunedin with involvement in the Whāngaia Ngā Pā Harakeke ki Ōtepoti (WNPH), a police-sponsored initiative where police and iwi and social agencies are working in partnership to reduce family harm.

November marks their second anniversary and in that time WNPH has grown exponentially and now has a good collective of 24 non-government organisations (NGOs) and government agencies to help whanau.

Home-based Family Support Team Leader Terri spends four to six hours a week involved at their High Risk table where she contributes to Safety Planning for whānau at high risk of family harm. It is a valuable investment of time, along with our contribution to Family Harm tables across our other three sites. WNPN is making a difference, which is encouraging. In the two years it has been running, there has been improved risk assessments, collaboration and responses in the family harm space.
